Monedderlust pulled off a stunning 1-0 victory over Santos in the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Elite League on Saturday, delighting the home crowd at the No. #5 ground, West Coast Berbice.
After a goalless first half, the decisive moment came late in the match.
Jaden Thom struck home from close range in the 85th minute.
The result represents a significant upset. Santos finished fifth in the 2024 season, while Monedderlust ended the campaign in eighth place in the ten-team league.
The Elite League action continues today with a doubleheader at the GFF’s National Training Centre, Providence.
Ann’s Grove will face Den Amstel at 18:30h, followed by a clash between Western Tigers and Fruta Conquerors at 21:00h.
