Continental to begin distribution of Parle’s biscuits, cookies from India

Continental Agencies Ltd. on Tuesday launched its distribution of biscuits and confectioneries from Indian company, Parle Pvt. Ltd. in Guyana.

The launch took place at Continental’s Ruimveldt, Georgetown Head Office.

Parle Pvt. Ltd. is a leading manufacturing company in India and produces a large variety of products including Parle-G Biscuits, Nutricrunch Cracker Biscuits, Murano Cookies and Krackjack biscuits.

The addition of these products will further diversify the company’s list of products distributed countrywide. Other popular brands distributed by Continental include Tip Top cheese, Pinho Bril Disinfectant, Sujata Curry Powder, and more.

Mohan Harnanan, Chief Marketing Officer of Continental Agencies Ltd, described the launch of the inaugural shipment of Parle products as “a momentous day in the life of Continental Agencies Ltd.”

He further noted, “The arrival of this shipment is testimony of the many product-oriented communication over the last many months.”

Delivering the keynote address was Mukesh Kaushik, First Secretary at the High Commission of India in Guyana. He congratulated Continental Agencies Ltd. for bringing Parle products to Guyana.

Kaushik acknowledged the challenges involved with shipping, cost, and added uncertainties. He said the products are now here in Guyana because of the “strength” and “experience” of Continental Group of Companies.

Further, the First Secretary highlighted the High Commission’s role in creating connections that allow for importing and exporting of products and for forming partnerships between Guyanese and Indian businesses. He implored interested citizens to approach the High Commission to further connect businesses between the two countries.

In his closing remarks, Kaushik conveyed his eagerness to import more Indian products into Guyana and mentioned the possibility of setting up a Parle Products factory in Guyana.
