Guyana Cup gallops for richest race day with Influx of imported horses

The 16th edition of the Guyana Cup promises to be a record-breaker, with the richest race day in the country’s history set for August 11th at the Rising Sun Turf Club.

Organizers anticipate an “unprecedented day of racing” with a ten-race card boasting over US$141,000 in prize money.

The excitement is fueled by the arrival of eleven imported horses from Miami, Brazil, and Trinidad and Tobago, set to elevate the competition to new heights.

“The support amongst horsemen and patrons is immense,” organizers said, highlighting the increased interest generated by the influx of international runners. These horses will vie for glory in the Guyana Cup, the Derby, the Sprint, a two-year-old race, and other supporting events.

Defending champion Easy Time, owned by Master Z Racing Stables and trained by Nazrudeen Mohamed, is the crowd favorite to repeat his victory.

A win would solidify Mohamed and Master Z Racing Stables’ place in history as the first trainer-owner duo to achieve a coveted hat-trick in the Guyana Cup.
