Motorcyclist, 19, dies after crashing into culvert 

Ricardo Melville, a 19-year-old motorcyclist, died on Monday after he crashed into a concrete culvert at Diamond, East Bank Demerara (EBD).

Police said Melville, a resident of Kaneville, EBD, was proceeding south along the eastern carriageway of the Diamond Public Road at a fast rate. He reportedly lost control of his motorcycle (#CL 4491) and collided with a concrete culvert situated on the eastern parapet of the road.

Meville was injured and subsequently picked up in an unconscious state by Emergency Medical Technicians and taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre where he was seen and examined by a Doctor. He succumbed while receiving treatment.

His body was escorted to Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Mortuary, awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Further investigations are in progress.
