Marine traffic disrupts ENet Fiber in Essequibo; Repairs underway

ENet has reported a disruption to its subsea fiber optic cable serving the Essequibo region.

A vessel is currently anchored directly over the cable, in an area clearly marked on marine charts to indicate its presence. As a result, internet and TV services on the Essequibo Coast are currently degraded, as the network is operating on wireless backup, and repair work is actively underway.

The increase in vehicular and marine traffic, along with ongoing infrastructure development, has significantly increased the vulnerability of critical telecom and electrical infrastructure, placing these high-value assets at daily risk of damage from contractors and disruptions to essential services.

ENet assures customers that it is working urgently to complete repairs and restore full service as quickly as possible.
