Top female cricketers from across Guyana will trade skills this weekend in the Guyana Cricket Board’s Inter-County T20 tournament, with all matches at the La Bonne Intention ground.
Apart from crowning a county champion, the competition will be used by the national selectors to compose the national team for the upcoming regional T20 tournament.
All games will bowl off at 13:00h
April 5- Demerara vs Essequibo
April 6- Berbice vs Essequibo
April 7- Berbice vs Demerara
Demerara will be led by Kaysia Schultz, and includes Nyia Latchman, Tilleya Madramootoo, Naomi Barkoye, Letisha Jordan, Cianna Barkoye and Roshanna Harper.
The line-up also features Chelsea Latif, Rushell Roberts, Rebecca Cilto, Anita Hendricks, Lynda Sylvan, Afifah Wickhm, Anesa Chetram and Racel Joseph forming a balanced and competitive squad.
Over in the Berbice camp, Sheneta Grimmond will captain a side supported by her vice-captain Realanna Grimmond, along with talents like Katana Mentore, Sherika Cambelle, Reneta Ramdeo, Tameka George, Tia Isaacs, Tricia Hardat and Crystal Durant.
Also suiting up are Daniella Hicks, Plaffiana Millington, Daniella Manns, Danielle Lindee, Jada Fraser and Kianna Leach.
Essequibo will be captained by Laurene Williams, with Yonette Welcome serving as vice-captain.
They are joined by Tremaine Marks, Annestecia Vanezuel, Latoya Williams, Varuni Pitamber, Shonette Belgrave, Cyanna Retimiah, Brianna Samaroo, Aliyah Da’Silva, Ackella Belgrave, Adina Smith, Ashanti Mohamed, Kumarie Persaud and Navika Narine.
The Guyana Cricket Board, in a press release, outlined: “The GCB is proud to continue providing opportunities for female cricketers across the country to showcase their skills at the Inter-county level. The tournament is expected to be a thrilling display of T20 cricket and a valuable platform for emerging talent to stake their claim for national selection.”
