Richard Domingo, a 39-year-old chainsaw operator of White Water, Region One, was charged on Wednesday for raping a woman and child, and for escaping lawful custody.
According to a statement from Police Headquarters, Domingo has been accused of raping a 25-year-old woman sometime between November 1, 2016 and November 30, 2017. He has also been accused of sexual activity with a child family member between August 1, 2012, and August 30, 2013.
Both incidents reportedly occurred in Region One.
The man also escaped from the Mabaruma Police Station on February 11, 2025.
The accused appeared virtually at the Mabaruma Magistrate’s Court, Region #1, before Magistrate Clive Nurse where the charges were read to him. He was not required to plead to the offences of ‘Rape’ and ‘Sexual Activity with a Child Family Member.’
However, he pleaded guilty to the offence of ‘Escaping Lawful Custody’ and was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment.
He was remanded to prison for the offences of Rape and Sexual Activity with a Child Family Member. The case was adjourned until May 20.
