Motorcyclist in Linden fatal accident was riding recklessly – Police

An accident in Linden Tuesday night resulted in the death of a 25-year-old motorcyclist. The collision occurred around 20:00 hrs at the intersection of Amelia’s Ward public road and Toucan Drive.

The accident involved a motor car, #PXX 4611, driven by 69-year-old pensioner Juliet Alexander, and a motorcycle, #CN 6284, driven by Joshua Ross, an unemployed resident of Industrial Area, Linden.

According to investigations, the motor car was travelling northbound along the western lane of Toucan Drive when the motorcycle, which was being ridden at a high speed in a zig-zag motion without a helmet and with no headlights on, approached from the eastern lane of Amelia’s Ward public road.

The motorcyclist was reportedly driving recklessly before the vehicles reached the intersection.

The car stopped briefly and then attempted to cross the public road, at which point the motorcycle collided with the left front side of the car. The force of the crash caused Ross to be thrown several feet from the point of impact, landing on the northern parapet, police said.

He sustained severe injuries to his body.
Good Samaritans quickly arrived at the scene and transported the unconscious motorcyclist to the Linden Hospital Complex. Despite efforts by medical personnel, Ross was pronounced dead.

The car and motorcycle were both seized for examination by a licensing and certifying officer. Authorities have confirmed that Juliet Alexander, the driver of the car, is currently in police custody and is assisting with ongoing investigations.
