Authorities are investigating the death of a woman whose body was discovered in a room at the Sunflower Hotel Wednesday morning, where she had been staying for an extended period.
She has so far been identified as Joanne Gomes, though the police have not released official information.
Gomes had reportedly been unwell for some time, according to sources close to the investigation.
The body was discovered in Room 5 of the hotel, located at the corner of South Road and Cummings Street. While there are no visible signs of foul play, detectives from the crime scene investigation unit are said to be following all leads as they work to determine the cause of death.
While the woman’s identity has not yet been officially confirmed, the investigation continues, with further details expected to emerge.
