Jeffrey’s imperious form continues in Bartica’s T20 League

Ronaldo Jeffrey’s sensational century proved pivotal as Bartica Super Strikers edged Gladiators by 15 runs in a high-octane Bartica Premier League (BPL) clash.

The match showcased the tournament’s penchant for explosive batting and emerging talent.

Gladiators, opting to bowl first after winning the toss, were immediately pressured by the Super Strikers’ aggressive approach.

Jeffrey, already a dominant force in the BPL, continued his remarkable run, smashing a blistering 104.

Following scores of 168, 118, and 69 this century further cemented his status as the tournament’s premier batsman.

Garfield Phillips (26) and Nathan Persaud (14) provided crucial support, propelling the Super Strikers to a formidable 223-7 from their allotted 20 overs.

While Joshua Jones (2-28) and Leon Fagundes (2-33) managed to pick up wickets for Gladiators, they, along with Leon Swamy (1-48), faced a relentless onslaught from the Super Strikers’ batsmen.

With a daunting target of 224, Gladiators responded with a valiant chase.

Swamy, looking to make amends for his expensive bowling spell, led the charge with a rapid 71, while Hamel Lamb contributed a crucial 61.

Jermaine Dover (25) also chipped in, but Gladiators ultimately fell short, finishing on 213-6.

Ashberk Hohenkirk (2-37) was the pick of the Super Strikers’ bowlers, while even Ronaldo Jeffrey (1-3) managed to pick up a wicket in his solitary over.

Kenanu Harry (1-40) also contributed to the Super Strikers’ victory.

The BPL’s unique pitch setup, featuring a specially prepared concrete surface for batsmen at one end and a traditional mud turf wicket for bowlers at the other, has played a significant role in the tournament’s high-scoring nature.
