Guyana cruised to their second straight win in the Regional Women’s Super50, dismantling Leeward Islands by 122 runs at Warner Park, St. Kitts.
Captain Shemaine Campbelle laid the foundation for Guyana’s victory, anchoring the innings with a composed, unbeaten 77 off 97 balls.
Releanna Grimmond continued her solid form with a fluent 30, while Ashmini Munisar, primarily known for her leg-spin, contributed a crucial 30 off 54 balls, stabilising the innings after a mini-collapse.
Leeward Islands’ Kimberly Anthony (3-20) and spinners Sainavi Kambalapalli (2-30) and Davronique Maynard (2-41) were the chief wicket-takers, restricting Guyana to 178 all out in 43.5 overs.
However, Leeward Islands’ batting faltered dramatically in the chase. Munisar turned match-winner with the ball, weaving a web around the Leeward Islands batters to claim 4-12 from 6.1 overs. Pace bowler Cherry-Ann Fraser (3-18) and the economical off-spinner Plaffiana Millington (3-25) had already inflicted significant damage in the early overs.
Amanda Edwards (13) was the only batter to reach double figures as Leeward Islands were bundled out for a paltry 56 in 24.1 overs.
Guyana will now face Windward Islands on March 3 at the Conaree Sports Club from 10:00h.
