Boxing fraternity thrown into mourning with passing of Terrence Poole, M.S.

Technical Director of the Guyana Boxing Association Terrence Poole, M.S., passed away on Wednesday morning, throwing the local sport fraternity into mourning.

Poole, a key figure in boxing development in Guyana, did his usual morning run on Wednesday and complained of feeling unwell upon his return, president of the Guyana Boxing Association, Steve Ninvalle confirmed to News Room.

He was immediately rushed to hospital after having difficulty breathing. Poole was 60.

Ninvalle said the sudden passing of Poole is a massive blow not just to boxing in Guyana, the Caribbean and beyond, but for sport in general.

The Director of Sport pointed out that planning was well underway for Poole to accompany local boxers for an upcoming overseas engagement.

Ninvalle said Poole’s passing leaves a gaping void in boxing in Guyana and the Caribbean, as his commitment, dedication and drive to propel the fistic sport was unmatched.
