Motorcyclist, 36, dies in Windsor Forest accident 

Leon Smith, a 36-year-old motorcyclist died in an accident at the Windsor Forest Public Road, West Coast Demerara, on Monday.

Police Headquarters reported that the accident involved Smith’s motorcycle (which did not yet have a number plate) and a motorcar (#PDD 3036).

The driver of the motorcar reportedly made a sudden U-turn after the car was stationary for some time on the northern side of the public road. The car collided with the motorcycle proceeding east along the northern side at a fast rate.

Smith, who was riding a motorcycle without a helmet, fell onto the road and received injuries about his body.

He was picked up in an unconscious state and taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he was examined by doctors on duty. He was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital but succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.

An autopsy will be performed on the man’s body.

Meanwhile, the motorcar driver went to the Leonora Cottage Hospital for treatment. He was subsequently arrested and is in custody assisting with the ongoing investigations.
