Ambassador Sasenarine Singh officially presented his Letters of Credence to King Philippe on Thursday at a ceremony held at the Castle of Laeken in Brussels.
This formal act accredits Singh as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana to the Kingdom of Belgium.
Following the presentation, Ambassador Singh was honoured with a private audience with the King, where he conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, President of Guyana.
During their meeting, Singh emphasized his commitment to strengthening the friendship between Guyana and Belgium, particularly in the realms of trade, social interaction, and political relations.
The Ambassador also extended his congratulations to King Philippe on Belgium’s achievements at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, expressing a keen interest in enhancing cooperation in sports and culture. Additionally, Singh reaffirmed Guyana’s dedication to a green and digital transition, the promotion of the rule of law, and the expansion of partnerships with Europe.
In response, King Philippe reciprocated the greetings to President Ali and the people of Guyana. Their discussions encompassed various bilateral and geopolitical issues of mutual interest, highlighting the robust cooperative relationship between the two nations.
Ambassador Singh is the tenth Guyanese Ambassador to Belgium since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1971. He brings a wealth of experience from both the public and private sectors, having served as Chief Executive Officer of the Guyana Sugar Corporation prior to his current appointment. A Chartered Accountant and Project Manager, he holds a Master’s Degree in Finance from Lancaster University in the UK and a Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy from the University of Guyana, along with several professional certifications.
