Police find ganja in alleyway after search at Atwell’s residence 

Police Headquarters on Tuesday said a plastic bag with 27 grammes of cannabis was found in an Eccles, East Bank Demerara alleyway.

And the narcotics were found in the alleyway as ranks searched for narcotics at the nearby residence of Debbie Atwell, an unemployed woman.

Police said the ranks had a warrant and a search was conducted in the woman’s house and yard.

Though narcotics were not found there, a black plastic containing a transparent Ziploc bag with cannabis inside was found over the back concrete fence in the alleyway.

The bag was found next to some banana trees.

The suspected cannabis was retrieved and taken to the Providence Police Station were it was weighed and amounted to 27 grammes.

The cannabis, Police said, is being processed for fingerprints. Investigations into the matter are continuing.
