DB Schenker, the globally-recognised logistics company, has entered the Guyanese market through a partnership with local company, HugSol Logistics.
HugSol falls under the CKHL Shipping and Logistics Group umbrella. The company hopes to offer significantly enhanced logistics services in Guyana.
“The arrival of DB Schenker is not merely a corporate expansion.
“It represents a vote of confidence in Guyana’s potential and an essential catalyst for continued progress,” HugSol General Manager, Peter Peroune said at a company event on Thursday.
According to Peroune, the arrival of DB Schenker is significant for several reasons.

For Guyana, DB Schenker offers access to cutting-edge logistics solutions, streamlined supply chains, and enhanced connectivity with international markets. These advantages, Peroune said, help to position Guyana as a key regional hub.
And for the foreign company, it now has a foothold in Guyana, arguably the most exciting economy. That foothold allows the company to use Guyana as a gateway to other regional markets.
Guyana’s Finance Minister, Dr. Ashni Singh believes the company and the new partnership are needed as the country is poised for continued economic expansion. According to him, major infrastructural developments positioning Guyana as a logistics hub and an expected expansion of the manufacturing sector will generate many more business opportunities here. So, he said, companies must capitalise on the growth of the local economy.
“We will do all that is necessary to enhance the competitiveness and attractiveness of the Guyanese economy. We will do all that is necessary to ensure that Guyana remains the most attractive places to do business
“… To those of you who have taken the very- in my mind- astute decision to forge the strategic decision to partner with a Guyanese company, you’re in the right place,” Singh said.
