The Private Sector Commission (PSC), having actively participated in past and the recent national cleanup exercises, calls on all citizens to uphold cleanliness in their surroundings and embrace sustainable waste management practices.
Each year, millions of dollars are diverted to cleanup efforts, resources that could be better utilized for critical national development projects. As Guyana continues to position itself as a leader in sustainable development, littering and illegal dumping present significant environmental risks and public health concerns, directly counteracting the country’s green initiatives.
The PSC calls for local authorities and townships to focus on the efficacy of the systems that are covered in law to fulfill their responsibilities.
The PSC strongly urges all Guyanese to refrain from littering and commits to supporting the relevant authorities in enforcing regulations to curb these harmful practices. Together, we can contribute to a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable Guyana.
