Security guard to spend six years in jail for larceny, escaping police custody

Jamal Halley, a 19-year-old security guard of Sophia, Georgetown was sentenced to six years imprisonment on Thursday after being charged with escaping from lawful custody and break and enter and larceny.

Halley was arrested on August 13 and is accused of breaking and entering Onessa Gibson’s home at First Street Kaneville, East Bank Demerara.

Halley appeared at Golden Grove Magistrate’s Court before Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman, where he was formally charged with the two offences.

Both charges were read to him, and he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to six (6) years imprisonment.
