On Friday at approximately 17:10 hrs, a police operation in New Amsterdam led to the arrest of 20-year-old laborer Tiequan Hartman, also known as ‘Tooke,’ after a search of his residence uncovered illegal substances.
Acting on gathered intelligence, officers proceeded to Lot 8 Savannahs Park to investigate Hartman’s home, a ‘range house’ comprising four separate apartments within a fenced yard. During the search, authorities discovered a transparent plastic bag containing cannabis. Hartman claimed the substance belonged to his father and not him.
The search extended to the backyard, where police found seven additional zip-lock bags filled with cannabis. Hartman was promptly informed of the offense, cautioned, and taken into custody.
Further investigation led officers to the residence of Hartman’s neighbor, 24-year-old Akeem Bovell. A rope, found hanging over Bovell’s zinc fence, was examined, revealing a multi-colored handbag tied to the rope. Upon opening the bag, police discovered it contained a quantity of cannabis along with a .22 caliber pistol.
Both Hartman and Bovell are now facing charges related to the possession of illegal substances and firearms. The investigation is ongoing as police continue to unravel the full scope of the case.
