Police conducted a targeted operation early Tuesday morning, leading to the seizure of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition on the Albion public road.
At approximately 06:28 hrs, officers stopped and searched a Toyota Premio with registration number HD 2128 in front of the Albion Police Station. The vehicle was driven by Selwyne Gray, a taxi driver from Leeds Village, Corentyne Berbice. Otis Victor, a farmer from Nurney Village, was the only passenger.
The search led to the discovery of a black plastic bag in the right-side driver’s door. Inside the bag were a .38 revolver and seven live rounds of ammunition.
Both Selwyne Gray and Otis Victor were arrested and taken into custody at the Albion Police Station. The firearm and ammunition were seized and lodged as evidence, and the vehicle was impounded. Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the firearm and ammunition.
