The Kares One Guyana T10 Tapeball Blast isn’t just about crowning a champion anymore – it’s about taking the sport global.
That message resonated at the tournament’s launch on Saturday at RS53 RestoBar & Lounge, with government officials and former national cricketers urging organisers – FL Sport – to aim high.
Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport Charles Ramson Jr. laid down the gauntlet, declaring that the event has the potential to be a major international draw.
“This tournament is more than just exciting cricket,” Ramson Jr. explained. “With the right organisation and continued growth, we can attract international teams, boost tourism, and showcase the talent Guyana has to offer.”
Former national cricketer Steven Jacobs echoed the Minister’s sentiment, highlighting the tournament’s opportunity for player development. “This goes beyond entertainment,” Jacobs said. “It’s a platform for Guyanese cricketers to shine and potentially catch the eye of selectors for higher levels.”

The stakes are certainly rising for the 32 teams vying for the coveted championship title.
This year’s competition boasts a bigger prize pool: G$1.5 million will go to the winners, G$500,000 to the runner-up, and G$250,000 in consolation prizes for the losing semifinalists.
The action commences August 3rd with a knockout format. Opening round matches will be played across the Police Sports Club, Queen’s College Ground, and Lusignan Sports Club.
The competition culminates on August 25th at the prestigious National Stadium with the finals and a special Cricket for Charity Match featuring President Dr. Irfaan Ali.
This year’s launch also unveiled the meticulously crafted championship trophy, a testament to the tournament’s growing prestige.
